Blackout Group
A Whiskey Company, Racing Stable and Community
Blackout Group is a whiskey company, racing stable and community. We source and bottle bourbon and rye as single barrels and small batches, and the people who pour it also share the wins at the track and the work of giving back.
Our Story
How It Began
The day before Thanksgiving, 2016, Sean Dolle and Kyle McGinty picked a single barrel and named it Blackout Wednesday. One barrel turned into a racing stable, a bourbon company and a community.
We Source Every Barrel
We don't distill our own whiskey. We buy our whiskey and choose every barrel by hand. We buy some barrels already well aged, and some younger that we age ourselves.
Our craft starts with the hunt: we search out and taste barrel after barrel to find the rare single barrels worth buying. From there we focus on maturation, re-barreling and blending. Every bottle is non-chill filtered, so nothing is stripped out of the whiskey.
Each release is bottled and labeled by us, either as a single barrel or a small batch. Releases are bottled for members, with limited retail and private barrel selections.
Training at Churchill Downs
Our horses train at Churchill Downs with Mike Tomlinson. The stable has 32 wins and $1.7 million in earnings. Ownership in our horses is limited and opens when shares are available.
Our Community
One Community
The people who pour the bourbon are the same people who own the horses. We share the wins at the track, the pours at every release, and the work of giving back. Together we've raised over $1 million for local charities.
